Silver and Commemorative Coins

The U.S. Mint has produced a series of modern silver commemorative coins to honor the service of American men and women in uniform. The first of which was minted in 1991, with the Korean War memorial Silver Dollar. The USO was also honored the same year with a 50th anniversary coin.

A 50th anniversary of World War II silver dollar was produced from 1991 to 1995. Vietnam War veterans are honored with the 1994 Vietnam Veterans Memorial silver dollar. There is also a U.S. Prisioner of War Museum silver dollar produced the same year.

The U.S. Mint also recognizes veterans in other conflicts. The Women in Military service memorial silver dollar was produced in 1994, and in 1998, the Black Revolutionary War Patriots silver dollar was minted to recognize and honor the sacrifices made by African-American soldiers during the American War of Independence.
